Although I am far from Virgina, yesterdays events has touched me to the core. I can't imagine being a parent, a sibling, a loved one of one of those students. I can't imagine hearing that your best friend or girlfriend/boyfriend or spouse has been killed in a place that should be filled with learning and fun and adventure and a new beginning in life.
I am sad. So very sad for the victim's family and loved ones. So very sad that we live in a society where people think it is ok to do this. So very sad that one person's life could go so very wrong that they would even contemplate, let alone achieve, this mess.
So although I don't know the hundreds of people that this shooting has personally affected, my hearts and tears and prayers go out to you. This is so cruel and I wish we could all wake up to a different Monday, April 16, 2007, one where this crap never happened.

It's pretty awful isn't it? I watched the news yesterday but can never fully comprehend what those people are living through.
Absolutely. We are all gasping at the horror....again.
Krista, as an American, how do you feel about the gun laws? I don't expect a super political answer, but is it true 1 in 3 Americans own a gun?
My sympathies to all VA.
It is things like this that really make me wonder what kind of fucked up world we are living in.
It is just such an awful tragedy.
Actually Mony, I am not an American. I was born and raised in Canada and still live here. Our guns laws are much stricter, although there sill are gun related crimes, I don't think they can ever be eliminated no matter what laws you enact.
Ah! Canadian! (Sorry Babe!) I actually wondered about that after I'd posted my earlier comment. We have gun related crime too, even with strict laws. The tragedy at VA is getting sadder by minute. All those amazing young people, gone. How awful....it's chilling to see the footage of the man responsible. So fucked up.
Nominated you for an award on my site....go check it out!
I think the worst part is that the news keep playing the videos over and over, thereby giving him what he was looking for - fame and recognition. I think there should be a law that bans media sensationalism for extremists such as this guy, Osama and the like.
Just a thougt.
My heart bleeds for the people of Virginia and for the killer's family as well.
