Turns out the constant headaches are not just a pregnancy symptom that I must deal with but a result of the whopping ear infection I have in my left ear. Who knew? I never get ear infections. I knew I had not had one since I was an adult. I asked my mom, and she said I only had three as a child, the last of which was when I was 9!
Ironically, the reason I was born 3 weeks premature was because my mom was diagnosed with an ear infection at 36 weeks and given a week's worth of Amox (you know the rest, it is a very common antibiotic). She began to retain fluid and when at her next visit, 1 week later she had gained 7 lbs and was all squishy her doctor induced her.
I was also given 10 days worth of Amox. My ob said it is the safest antibiotic to take while pregnant and it is even safe to take while breastfeeding because such a small amount passes into your breast milk and it is the one antibiotic they will prescribe to infants if they get an infection. I don't think I will have the same reaction as my mom. Nothing else has followed her reproductively. She was super fertile and never had a problem getting pregnant. In fact, she had a problem not getting pregnant! And she developed mild HG and was sick for the whole 9 months of pregnancy, I was not! We'll see.. I'm not quite ready for little guy to make his appearance yet, I need to know he's ok and safe and 36 weeks just seems a little early.
I went and had professional maternity photo's done. I am please with many of them. So far I only have the printed copies. I will get a CD with the files on them in a few days and then I will share with you.
Yesterday's OB appointment went really well. No weight gain in the last two weeks but he was unconcerned for two reasons. One, because I had gained 5 lbs during my last visit, putting me over 20 lbs. And two, because he said with an undiagnosed ear infection I had probably lost my appetite and was not eating as much. My blood pressure was normal, 118 over 79 (up a little bit for me but still in the normal range), and my fundal height measurement was right on 36 inches.
He did the swab for strep B virus. I can't believe I am this close! Now if I could just get rid of this headache so I can start really enjoying this pregnancy again.

I can't believe you're this close either! I'm so excited for you. I've heard that not gaining, or even losing, weight in the last few weeks is normal. I think I actually lost a lb or 2.
Feel better soon!!
Urgh, ear infections hurt! I hope the amox works perfectly.
I can't believe your little one will be here so soon!
Owww...ear infection! I've only had one as an adult (a very young adult at 17) but I do remember how it hurt. I hope your headache goes away soon and your ear heals up nicely before the baby decides to come.
PS~ Thanks for your comment on my blog. Chocolate cake sounds great right about now!
Ear infection sounds painful. I hope it passes soon. And that all sounds good about the weight. This is all great news!
Well, at least you know it isn't because of high blood pressure or anything like that. I hope it clears up soon.
So, so close Krista!
Gosh, you are almost there! Doesn't time fly, I remember you doing IVF like it was last week! It just whooshes by :)

I hope your headache is gone. And your ear infection is gone as well. You really are sooooooo close now!
You are sooo close! I hope that ear infection is gone.
sorry to hear about the ear infection, it sounds painful.
Btw I sincerely hope your fundal height is 36cm and not 36 inches. If it's inches you are gestating a giant baby!
Hope you feel better soon!
It IS hard to believe that you are almost there. I have loved that you have shared the entire journey with us. Can't wait to see the professional photos.
Best wishes for the C-sec. And get well soon.

My Reality sent me over here! So I'm here, and hoping for you that the C-section goes well, the ear infection takes a hike and the family visits aren't as stressful as they COULD be. Keep us posted. You're in our thoughts.
I just say MyReality's post and wanted to come over. I'm hoping and praying for the best with all of you. This is so scary--I can't imagine what you're going through.
I came over from My Reality to send my thoughts and love your way.
