So, Kara Riley was born on July 3, 2009 weighing exactly 7 lbs. She had a shocking head of dark hair (especially shocking given that her brother was bald until he was at least 15 months old).
Here she is the day she was born.
And here is the two of us having some cuddle time in the hospital
I thought breastfeeding was going great in the hospital, Kara only went down to 6 lbs 13 oz and my milk was in like gang busters. Unfortunately a couple days at home and I was howling in pain every time I fed her. Turns out the little princes has a higher arched palette and my nipple was getting sucked up there and re-shaped. I was cracked and bruised and tortured. However a few days with a breastfeeding clinic and 4 days with a nipple shield and we were both ready to go again. Since then feeding has been great!
So great that today, 1 day before she turns 1 month old, Kara is already weight 8 lbs 15 oz.
Here is a more recent picture

Caden adores her, although he is still adjusting to not having all my time. Mostly though, he takes that out on me. With her he is so gentle and loving and always wants to "take her" or touch her. And every morning when he wakes up he insists on cuddle time with his little sister.
Here is my favorite cuddle time picture.
I must admit that between trying to find active time for my busy little boy and breastfeeding a little girl, who will sleep decently at night but during the day wants to be fed or comforted always is a challenge and by dinner time I am pretty damn exhausted.
I am looking forward to a couple months from now when there is some routine. There will be some routine again .... right?

Aw, she's adorable. Congratulations!!!
Wow! Congratulations :-) They look so sweet together!
Yes, there will be routine, eventually :-) With some kids sooner than others.
Take care of yourself and of your adorable kids!
Congratulations! She's beautiful! And yes, it does get easier, I promise. In fact for me it got easier far faster than it did with just one child, if that makes sense.
Glad breastfeeding is going well, too.
Congratulations!!! Fabulous news!!
Yes, it does get easier, more adjusted. Faster than you would think. Like Lisa, things just seemed to gel better with two than one. Probably because the second time around, even though you are dealing with a different little personality, you have the basics understood.
She is a real cutie, and I love the cuddle pics-may they continue for a good long time!
Congratulations!! Very happy for you!
Precious. :)
How beautiful! Congratulations from my heart.
Congratulations! Thanks for the update and for sharing your photos. Your children are adorable!
amazing pics! And yes, I promise, soon there will be a routine to help you out :)
congratulations! And yes, I'm looking forward to some semblance of a routine again...
She's beautiful, Krista! I love the picture of her with Caden; that is priceless. You'll get some routine back eventually. I'm praying for you! Being a new mother again is not for sissies!
Love,
Flicka
Oh my goodness!!! Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful little girl! How cool our babies are only a day apart.,..and both of them born with a head of dark hair! It's nice to have something in common other than a brain tumor. :)
I think I know what toy you're talking about. One of my friends actually got that for us. Let me ask her where she got it!
This comment is way behind (sorry!) but I just wanted to say that she is beautiful. Her and Caden together is just too precious. Congrats again!
Yay, congrats! What a cutie!
