All is well in my end of the world. Today's ultrasound was fantastic.
Baby measured 12 weeks 1 day. I have decided that measuring babies is the same as measuring follicles, each ultrasound tech measures differently. At six week this embryo measured 1 day ahead, at 9 weeks it measured 2 days behind, and at almost 12 weeks it was measuring 3 days ahead.
My ultrasound took a very long time, partially because my bladder kept filling up and I had to keep going to the washroom so she could get good pictures, partially because little one refused to stay still long enough to get the measurements she needed. In fact she missed one measurement because after 40 minutes, she still couldn't get it. All of this ultrasound made for good viewing pleasure for Rick and I. We got to watch little one roll from it's back to it's stomach and back again. Kick. Wave. Wiggle and then push off from the lining and do a complete roll.
Heartbeat was 167.
The second sac was still there but is now empty of embryo. The sac however grew to measure at 9 weeks 2 days. The sacs are side by side so I am not sure if it continues to grow if that would be cause for concern but the doctor was not at all concerned about it today.
I was discharged from the fertility clinic today. I have been referred to a high risk obsetrician because my doctor feels that a singleton pregnancy that started out as a twin is still higher risk than a regular singleton. Obviously the ob is not too concerned as my first appointment has been scheduled for Feb 7th, until then I am to see my family doctor and have written instructions that the family doc request a detailed ultrasound between 16-18 weeks (January 3rd to 17th). The fact that I could be 18 weeks pregnant by January 17th boggles my mind.
The whole things feels very surreal. It was unbelievable to watch that screen today and know that all this movement was happening inside me. To know that inside my belly there is a live fetus who rolls and turns over and waves and I cannot feel a thing is unbelievable.
The placenta for the baby is anterior and a friend told me that means it might be later before a feel movement. That's a shame, I am really looking forward to reassuring movement! I am however going to make a concerted effort to have a positive outlook from here on out. I am 12 weeks, I am almost past the first trimester, and my report to the ob states (because I have to deliver the file) that at this point there are no obsetrical concerns and the pregnancy is normal.
Besides no matter what happens, one thing is certain. I am absolutely, head over heels in love with this fetus. If something goes wrong I will be devastated and no amount of negative thoughts will protect me from that.

Oh, hooray! I was anxiously checking last night to see if there was any news! I'm so glad to hear things are going well and you have been discharged as a 'normal' patient. :)
I am so happy for you, Krista. I am glad things went so well and can't wait to see the belly in person!
The 12 week u/s was by far my favourite. The picture was more complete or something and it was the first time to see something that really resembled a baby. Truly awesome.
Yay you!!

fantastic news sweetie, I'm very pleased for you.
Grand!
12 weeks already!
Congratulations on your healthy baby, Krista! I'm sure it's difficult to be so happy for your little one while grieving your loss.
I've also got an anterior placenta and it took a bit longer but I've been feeling the baby every day since just over 20 weeks. It's probably not as frequently or as strong but my OB tells me that by week 28 it'll be consistent and strong.
hang in there :-)
