My road trip which included a one night stay for a Supernova concert in Albany, a 4 day stay in New York City (my first trip to NYC), and a one night stay in Philadelphia to see a Flyer's game, was really awesome. I really enjoyed every minute of it. There is so much to see and do in NYC and obviously 4 days is not nearly enough time to even scratch the surface but what we did get to see (empire state building, statue of liberty, times square, parts of central park, two plays and a bus tour of downtown and uptown Manhattan) made it very clear that this is a city I want to come back to. Preferably my next trip will be when the temperatures are well above freezing and I can walk around some of the interesting neighborhoods. It was very cold when we were there, one day worked out to -20 Celsius without the windchill and I tell you the wind was very, very cold.
My 19 week ultrasound yesterday was also very awesome. I got to see a very healthy baby moving and boppin all over the place with a nice strong heartbeat of 165. I saw a developed brain, a wonderfully cute face complete with eye lenses now, which were moved for us. 10 gorgeous little fingers and 10 gorgeous little toes. Appropriately developed arms and legs (which are now much longer than the little stubby things we saw last time. A working throat, diaphram and bladder and a penis! Yup, we are having a little boy! There was absolutely no doubt about it. When we saw it, I said wow, we are having a boy. Ultrasound tech said technically I can't guarantee you what you are having. I said sure but if that baby comes out female we have some major problems. Tech says yup, some major anatomical problems.
Also, the little bugger was playing games with us, hiding parts that we wanted to see and then putting them everywhere after the tech spend 10 minutes finding them the first time. He also stuck out his tongue for us and the tech actually got a picture of it!
I will be 20 weeks on Thursday, who hoo for 1/2 way there.
I have been feeling movement lately. Not consistently or nearly as definitively as I would like to, damn anterior placenta. But I find these movements both fascinating and very reassuring. I can't wait until I feel them more frequently and more strongly.
That's it for my update. I was not able to check any of your blogs for a whole week so I have a lot of catching up to do!
