Early last week a colleague and friend of mine from my old home town emailed to say she was coming to Toronto for the weekend (for meetings). She wondered if I would like to get together for lunch or shopping, naturally I agreed.
I arranged to pick her up from the airport on Friday morning. When I did, she invited me to dinner with the other lawyers in town for the weekend. I went and had a fantastic time. I hung out with them all weekend and really, really enjoyed myself. It was really great to be around other women who were struggling to balance work and life but really did enjoy their job.
I met some great people, made some good contacts and heard of several job opportunities. I also met a young lawyer who practices in ART law (she drafts contracts for adoptions, surrogocies, provides ILA for donors etc). She offered to have lunch with me and give me the low down on the good doctors in my area.
There were several late nights and early mornings (I am pretty exhausted) and all in all I think it was very productive in addition to being a lot of fun!
Oh, and by the way, the shopping was also successful and I ended up with two very nice new outfits!
