I am very pleased with her idea. For the last two summers I have had a house full of peony's. And delightfully I have realized that there is nothing that says "summer" like relaxing and casually watching beautiful petals float to the floor.
And although my eyes and nose sometimes wish I wouldn't, I really enjoy filling the house with beautiful flowers. As a side benefit, I have learned that when you cut the very heavy flowers, the plant bounces back and a whole new crop of buds appear and open. So here is this year's second lot of cuttings, aren't they pretty?

On the fertility front, my cushy lining reached .85 on day 12! Last time it made it only to .79 on day 19. My transfer is scheduled for next Monday, June19th. Tomorrow I have to go into the clinic to learn how to do the PIO injections. I have never done the PIO before. Until now, I have always used the progesterone suppositories.
I am really nervous - those needles are freakin huge. Please, someone tell me the secret to them not hurting so much, please....

The freakin needles always hurt me, and then I got advice after the fact. What I've heard include:
Warm the spot before injecting, and then ice directly afterwards.
Ice the spot before and after injecting.
Massage the spot before injecting and then ice directly afterwards.
The ice before and after makes the most sense to me, but I never tried any of them because I was finished with treatment by the time I'd learned any of that.
GOOD LUCK.
I've never used the PIO needles before so I don't have any advice - I just wanted to wish you good luck with it!
And your peonies are beautiful. They're my favourite flower for in the house, although like you, they're not my favourite in the garden.
As I recall you pull out the liquid with one needle and inject with another - my husband - the saint, did all the mixing and injecting. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be actually. I think once it hurt afterwards and I iced it.
Beautiful flowers!! I love having flowers at home too..they just give such a positive vibe.
PIO shot--we ice my butt for about 5-10 minutes before the injection. Then right before the needle hits my butt, my DH massages it for a minute or so(to relax the muscle). Then after the injection, he massages it again--this is key, bec. if you don't the oil just sits there and it will hurt for days! I found this to work really well. In addition, we always made sure that we change the needle before the injection(according to the nurse, the needle gets dull when you are drawing the oil and this makes it harder to inject in the butt-so make sure you have fresh needles!!) Good luck!
OMG! Peonies are one of my favorite flowers for just that reason - that you can cut them and they are so beautiful indoors. I love to walk into the room and smell them in the air (instead of the dogs - LOL).
